Include your iOS version and what you were doing when it went wrong. It helps more than anything else you could send.

Common questions

Does Minibyte upload my photos?

No. Minibyte makes no network requests at all — there is no networking code in the app. Compression runs on your device through Apple's own frameworks. See the privacy policy.

Will it keep the date and location of my photos?

Yes. Capture date, GPS and the rest of the metadata are carried through to the smaller copy. If you would rather drop the location, there is a switch on the shrink screen — it removes GPS and the IPTC location fields and leaves the capture date untouched.

Will it delete my originals?

Only when you ask it to, and only after the smaller copy is confirmed saved. Every deletion goes through iOS's own confirmation prompt, and deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.

The file got bigger instead of smaller.

That happens, especially with small files and with conversions to JPEG. When it does, Minibyte keeps your original and tells you it did. It will not report a saving it did not make.

What is free, and what does the purchase unlock?

Scanning your library, reviewing items, previews, the before-and-after comparison, sorting by hand and your history are free and unlimited. So are your first 3 shrinks, 3 conversions and 5 cleanups — lifetime counts, not daily ones.

Unlimited Compress & Convert is a one-time purchase. It removes those limits, unlocks the share extension, and enables near-duplicate cleanup. There is no subscription.

I paid on another device, or I reinstalled.

Settings → Restore Purchases. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it carries across your devices at no extra cost.

Some photos were skipped.

If iCloud Photos is set to Optimize iPhone Storage, the full-resolution original may not be on your device. Minibyte detects this, skips those items rather than guessing, and tells you the download size before offering to fetch them.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
